I will choose students based on failing two or more district assessments.
Possible adjustment of the number of students used depending on parental consent.
Get consent of parents and students to participate in tutorials.
Ask parental permission for students to attend tutorials and notify them of the days that tutorials will be held.

  1. Thurman your plan is seriously high paced and full of fine lines to cross if that makes any sense. I know that special education has its own set of rules. When creating the parental permission forms and when speaking to parents I would make it as simple yet as informed as possible.
    You have presented some high expectations in your plan. Be prepared to use the results for further inquiry and don't be afraid revise your plan as you implement it.

  2. I teach fourth grade Texas History along with the Language Arts block. Because of the emphasis on reading and writing, sometimes history is not stressed as much. It might be interesting to compile data on how exposure your students had to the curriculum prior to your classroom. Those who received more exposure on the elementary level, probably do better on the district tests then the ones who are seeing it for the first time.
